Vlog: Quarantine Tadpole Experiment

While we’re all stuck at home, India decided she wanted to make a pond habitat to see what might grow. So she and Tony went down to our little creek and made one. Here’s a little video of our quarantine science experiment.

This is just one of the things we’ve been doing to help entertain and educate the kids while we’ve been under quarantine. What have you been up to? Tell us in the comments. I hope you enjoy the video, and share it with your friends. And, as always, thanks for watching!

  1. That was awesome! Clearly your children have the same talent and compassion for taking care of all Gods creatures as their parents do. You have taught them well and just goes to show you how learning takes place all around us and not just in a classroom. Thank you so much for sharing this unique and beautiful experience 🙂

  2. Reminds me of my own childhood – I did the same thing – only I was disappointed when the frog didn’t turn out to be as big as the bull frogs I was used to seeing!

  3. I loved the project. India is so curious! It’s so cool that she has parents that enable her and her brothers to learn in fun ways. I’m going to try to do something like this with my 4 year old grandsons.

  4. In the summer we lived on the shore of Lake Erie. We would dig a big hole in the sand then capture a bunch of little sand frogs and put them in the hole. Then we put Rice Krispies in to feed them. We watched them enjoy their snack. They were really interesting to observe. When they (or we) we’re done we gently scooped them up and took them to the lake. We never hurt them. 🏇🤠

  5. I’m homeschooling my grandson (finishing Kindergarten) and we are keeping an observation journal of our neighbor’s backyard man made pond. Soooo excited for Wednesday to see lift off of Space Ex so space lessons are on board for this week! Happy Memorial Day!

  6. What a great idea. I did the same at about India’s age….except it turned out that I had gathered mosquito larvae. Let’s just say the pond experiment got dumped! Lol.

    1. You are the coolest parents!! And you have been blessed with three wonderful children!! Love to watch your videos. 😍

  7. Hi Dr. Emily:

Speaking of science, I just started my own You Tube Channel called NU3Q Amateur Radio. I will start posting videos to it shortly.

  8. Every time you have India in a video I’m blown away how much she looks like a mini-Dr. Emily. I really enjoy your videos; they are a needed escape from the “virus”. Thank you.

  9. Thanks so much for sharing India’s project!! So cool for children of all ages to watch things grow! I so enjoy your vlog and your blog!

  10. That is fabulous. What happen to the frog?
I enjoyed watching tjhe changes and imagine their little crys of joy at the growth of that tiny little frog.
Have any minnows in the creek. That would be fun too.
    As always it was fun

  11. What fun, reminder of the simple natural things in life that can be down w/o the internet. Indy will long remember this!
